We could ask the question on how to reduce inefficiency, duplication and waste to the very best experts in the business and actually listen to the real plain brutal truth.
Here's some things I've noticed:
School boards, they seem to waste a lot of time and money on policies that do nothing in the long run and mitigate any progress. It's a do nothing committee to ensure that nothing changes. Many cities around the country have more efficient school systems that have more students yet do not require 1 billion dollars in annual funding. What we get for that money is absurd = nothing, one of the wort educations in the country for the most amount of money. Too much money involved and power hungry board members are eating it up. It's shady. That's obvious.
Get rid of the school board.
City council:
Needs term limits on the people rotting in their seats, they seem to be the biggest obstacles to progress in Memphis. I would allow them to be sued on grounds of racists slander on the entire city for some of the stuff they've said.
City council is how some people get a little power to get a lot of money. They have blocked progress for too long, consolidate and get rid of these two boat anchors to progress.
ETHICS LAWS FOR ALL CITY EMPLOYEES, APPOINTEES, ELECTED OFFICIALS, CITY COUNCIL PEOPLE, BOARD MEMBERS, AND ANYONE ELSE CONNECTED TO ANY CITY BUSINESS:
No criminals, no indicted people, no felons, no ex-felons, no drunks, no thieves, no drug dealers, no drug abusers, no embezzlers, no registered sex offenders, no predators, AND NO GRANDFATHERING ANY IN!!
For crying out loud, could anything be more stupid? Who do you think will get grandfathered into not being accountable?
Hint: It won't be honest people!
CRIME is a big problem and when you turn criminals right back out into the streets, it becomes very costly to all citizens.
Jail is cheap compared to the hospitalization of victims, property loss, business income loss, and relocation costs when the citizens get fed up with the lack of progress and/or prosecution of criminals and LEAVE MEMPHIS.
Businesses leave Memphis too.
If you look at the national crime map, it shows a lot more sex offenders per capita than the local maps do, a whitewashing of corruption, and that needs to stop.
Attempted hoodwinking of the public hasn't convinced anyone that it sucks here as far as crime. YOU do not know one single person who hasn't been a victim of violent crime if YOU live in Memphis. That's a fact.
Violent offenders and sex offenders belong behind bars, not in them. They don't need jobs in schools or at city pools either.
I'd say that crime and releasing criminals back into the public causes the most duplication here and if we get a handle on that too, we'll have a dramatically lower budget due to a lot of associated costs going down or disappearing.
